Course Overview
 
This 6 module Certificate in Advanced Modern Mixing course is taught by a 2x Platinum and x3 times Gold Producer and Mixer who has worked with the likes of Little Mix, Kelly Clarkson, The Shires, J-Fla George Shelley and many more.
 
This interactive, dynamic course will provide a realistic, honest and yet exciting and practical journey through the ever evolving creative process of modern mixing and mastering. 
 
Watch in real-time as Aubrey mixes songs from start to finish so you can see the exact approach taken to achieve professional level mixes.
 
Aubrey will demonstrate various mixing techniques from the advanced use of compression, the intricate task of sculpting EQ, and creating dynamic and intelligent effects, to advanced automation, panning, mastering and developing a modern mixing approach from your home studio.
 
By the end of the course you will understand all of the key advanced mixing skills that will enable you to mix and master to the same standards as commercial hit records. You’ll learn that you don’t need a big studio or expensive equipment to mix a song to pro standards - you just need the skills.
 
To note: Every class is recorded so students don’t have to attend the live classes if they are unable to. The class recordings and accompanying course documents will be available with lifetime access.

 
Module 1: Modern Approach to Advanced Mixing
When: Saturday 19 April 15:00 BST
 
 In this intro module you will learn all about Aubrey’s approach to modern mixing. You’ll learn about her mixing template, her go-to plugins and starting settings and learn about her brand new Mixing Blueprint that will teach you how to get pro level mixes in 3 hours or less.
 
Aubrey will also mix a song live and talk though her mixing approach step-by-step with a focus on the more advanced mixing techniques
 
Module 2: Advanced EQ Techniques
When: Saturday 26 April 15:00 BST
 
 In the first of the technical modules, you will learn about the more advanced and intricate techniques used in EQ. This includes unmasking, dynamic EQ, mid/side EQ, tonal EQ vs surgical EQ, EQ matching, inverse EQ, sculpting and more
 
Module 3: Advanced Compression Techniques
When: Saturday 3 May 15:00 BST
 
 In this compression module you will take a deep dive into the vast amount of capabilities when it comes to compression. You will learn about sidechain compression, rear bus parallel compression, parallel compression, multiband compression, mid/side compression, bus compression, upwards compression, downwards compression and across a range of instruments and sounds from vocals, drums, bass, guitars, pianos and busses
 
Module 4: Advanced Creative Mixing
When: Saturday 10 May 15:00 BST
 
Module 4 will explore the more creative side of mixing, including saturation for bringing power and punch to mixes, reverb and delay effects, as well as modulation, analog summing and modelling and colour mixing.
 
Module 5: Automation, gain staging, phasing
When : Saturday 17 May 15:00 BST
 
Module 5 will explore the supportive tools that can really elevate a mix, including advanced automation in creative and non-creative mixing, pre-fader vs post-fader metering, and understand how to detect, analyse and solve phase issues in your mixes
 
Module 6: Modern Mastering & Limiting 
When: Saturday 24 May 15:00 BST
 
In the final module, we will look at the advanced techniques used by top level mastering engineers. This includes advanced limiter settings, clipping, EQ in mastering, compression in mastering, stereo imaging and metering including True Peak Metering, LUFS readings, RMS reading and mastering for vinyl.
 
Student Eligibility:
 
Each module will be taught using Logic Pro X, however, it doesn’t matter which DAW you use as all techniques taught will be non-DAW specific meaning you can be a user of any DAW. Aubrey may demonstrate some techniques in Fl Studio, Ableton and Cubase.
 
The course is suitable for students of all abilities and experience levels as all enrolled students will also get instant access to a foundation level mixing course to watch ahead of the course starting.
 
The course modules will take place over Zoom. Therefore all students should have Zoom installed on their computers for a more seamless experience.
